Lopez to help unravel rare inflammatory genetic disorders

Assistant professor Jaime Lopez of the Department of Biology and Microbiology is investigating an enzyme called linear ubiquitin assembly complex, or LUBAC, that plays a central role in regulating cell death through a five-year, nearly $1.3 million National Institutes of Health RO1 grant. What he discovers may help scientists figure out how to treat patients with rare genetic mutations in LUBAC components that impair the enzyme pathway.

Tummala to advance curcumin formulation for colon inflammation
