South Dakota State University communicates with many diverse audiences. Every university communication, regardless of the audience, needs to identify consistently and positively with the university. It is the responsibility of all SDSU employees to be effective brand ambassadors.
University Marketing and Communications has created a University Brand Toolbox to make it easy to create effective, great-looking communications that meet the university’s brand standards. We offer two options:
“Create Your Own” materials using resources located in our University Brand Toolbox. If you choose this option, we request you send us a copy to confirm proper brand usage.
In-house marketing/graphic design support for custom materials, communication plans, ad campaigns and more, upon request.
All SDSU employees have their own directory profile on the university's website. You can add contact information, research interests, biography, experience and other relevant information to help visitors get to know you and your expertise. Need a reminder on how to log in and make profile updates? Check out the tutorial on how to update your profile.
Our Digital and Social Media webpages have a new look! Take a moment to check out the latest guidelines related to usage and branding, and visit our official social media directory. If you manage a university account, please take a moment to ensure your directory information is up to date. For changes or additions, contact our Digital and Social Media team.
We encourage all colleges, departments, organizations and clubs to be active in the social space to connect with a variety of audiences and tell the #SDState story. As we begin another academic calendar at South Dakota State, it’s also a good time to review best practices for social media.
Please contact Andrew Sogn with any questions related to social media.
Join the growing list of SDSU experts. If you’re willing to speak to the media or the public about your area of expertise, please contact UMC to provide your area of expertise to the database. While being on this list means you would be available for media interviews, those would be conducted by arrangement and when class time and research demands permit.
Most times you’ll be contacted to comment on breaking news, so you’ll need to be available within three to four hours of being contacted by UMC.
On Aug. 24-26, University Marketing and Communications will be hosting its annual marketing photoshoot with photographer Greg Latza, an SDSU alum. These photos serve as a valuable resource as they are used in marketing materials, the website and social media.
