4. Civics and Media Literacy

Civics and Media Literacy Coming to Brookings, SD:

In a joint collaboration with media and civic engagement organizations, South Dakota residents can watch several televised and in-person events to increase their civic engagement and media literacy. Julia Hellwege, director of the Chiesman Center, says that being engaged in the political decision-making process is important: "If we’re concerned about the things happening to us, the best thing to do is to be involved in the process."

On Monday, September 29, from 6-7:15 pm in the Brookings Public Library, you will hear from Reynold Nesiba, a former state senator, presenting: "Has Recent Legislation Weakened South Dakota's Petition Process?" Please join this town hall talk and ask questions to become a better-informed citizen. Click this link to read more.
