If you're new here, we're the First Responders Support Training (FRST) Center, and we're dedicated to promoting health and wellness for first responders statewide. This month, we will showcase survey participation from SD departments statewide, introduce focus group information, and share nutrition and exercise tips. Thank you for joining us this month - we are excited to have you here!
Survey Participation
Check out our county map of South Dakota demonstrating participation from over 55 volunteer fire departments! The red stars represent the fire departments and the blue lines show interstates, I-29 and I-90.
We truly appreciate and thank those of you that took the time to complete the survey.
Fall 2025 Focus Groups
We’re excited to share an update as we move into the second phase of our FEMA grant. This fall, our team will be conducting focus groups as part of Aim 2:working with firefighters and fire chiefs to gather input and explore the feasibility and implementation of health programs.

Fit-for-Duty
Seth Daughters, MS, our Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach at the FRST Center, reintroduces our Strength and Conditioning Lab and our mission to help first responders build strength, resilience, and job-ready fitness.
In the featured video, Seth gives a tour of the lab, introduces the equipment, and leads a 10-minute total-body workout using functional, purposeful movements with minimal equipment. The session includes a dynamic warm-up, workout, cardio finisher, and cooldown. Designed to prevent injuries and boost endurance, these quick, effective movements will help you stay mission-ready.
