The fifth version of the annual conference was held on the SDSU campus Feb. 6-7 with nearly 200 participants from academia and industry. Kurt Cogswell, head of the SDSU mathematics and statistics department, said, “Having industry is a key and unique aspect of this conference. We had 475 HS Juniors, and their families attend Junior Day on February 11th. This was the largest Junior Day program we’ve ever had at SDSU, and overall, it was a very successful event. Of the 475 attendees, 249 were from South Dakota and 116 were from Minnesota. We had attendees from Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Illinois, Colorado, and Kentucky. Of the 475 attendees, 68 attendees had previously expressed interest in programs within the JJL College of Engineering.
Club 71 in Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium is filled to capacity for the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering Career Fair Feb. 9. A total of 151 companies, including 39 first-time participants took part in the event, which drew 433 students.
Dr Muthu greeting and thanking industrial representees for coming to the Career Fair.
Getting reacquainted are Rich Reid, the retired associate dean and former civil engineering department head, and Paris Marcy, a 2022 civil engineering graduate who was back on campus to recruit for her current employer, HDR engineering in Sioux Falls.
Interest in the Career Fair has grown to the point that some entities are positioned on an upper level of Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The foot traffic is lighter, but the view is splendid.
