Here's what to expect at Meet State

The time has come for a new class of Jackrabbits! Meet State is an exciting weekend, moving into the residence halls and meeting new people through different events on campus. Here are a few things to keep in mind before the weekend festivities begin.

The Move-In Process

Though it may seem daunting, the move-in process is organized to be as stress free and easy as possible. Each residence hall has its own drop-off zone for your items. Meet State volunteers will be nearby to help guide you through the process. Students moving in are responsible for checking into their hall and will have help finding their room and completing a room check.

After all your belongings have been brought to your room, there will be plenty of time to unpack and arrange your room. If you come across a problem, there will be plenty of staff members across campus to help with any task or question you may have.

Meet State Weekend Events

There will be many things happening on campus during and after Meet State. Each day offers events just for students, so be sure to check them out. Friday is highlighted by move-in at the residence halls, new student convocation at Frost Arena, a Jackrabbit women’s soccer game at Fishback Soccer Park and activities at Sylvan Green.

Saturday has several new events. Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium is the site for the New Jacks photo and, for new and returning students, the Yellow, Blue & You event, where students learn campus traditions. There will also be activities throughout the day at the South Dakota Art Museum and Miller Wellness Center, including food trucks!

Sunday features another Jackrabbits women’s soccer game at Fishback Soccer Park as well as the Student Engagement Expo and Students’ Association Carnival at the University Student Union. McCrory Gardens is also offering free admission for students and families all weekend.

Final Reminders

Meet State weekend is meant to be fun and exciting for new Jackrabbits on campus and arriving organized can help with that. Check out this move-in checklist to be sure you have all that could be needed in your residence hall.

Some of the events happening around campus are required for new students. Check the weekend schedule to see when you are expected to attend.

This is a final reminder to have fun! Check out all that is happening on campus and make the most of your first weekend in Brookings. Welcome to SDSU, Jackrabbits!
