The South Dakota State University Wellness Center is a popular spot for students to work out, socialize and relieve some stress. The recent expansion allows the facility to better accommodate the campus community.
The 37,500-square-foot Wellness Center expansion, which includes an 8,000-square-foot remodel, opened to the public Oct. 12.
The expansion added an additional basketball court, indoor soccer field, studio, machines and open space for stretching and mat exercises. In addition, two racquetball courts, CrossFit equipment and a space dedicated to outdoor programs are new to the center.
To accommodate a growing need for their services, the Student Health Clinic and Jackrabbit Pharmacy moved to remodeled spaces.
SDState is one of the first universities in the United States to have a student health clinic and recreation services in the same building.
All of these services are available with a simple swipe or tap of a student ID.
